Ten Small Things You Can Do Everyday To Be Happier

Hey guys! Welcome back. Students have a lot to deal with. Between balancing school, work, extracurricular activities, homework and studying, and being healthy, there is so much going on. Between the academics and social life and managing all the stress, happiness falls to the bottom on our list of priorities. But that’s not the way it should be. There are many things you can do to add some happiness to your day. Here are ten.

Smile and laugh. You don’t have to be happy to smile. Smiling in general can make you a happier, more cheerful person. You don’t have to mean. Just the act of smiling can make you feel happier because you feel better.

Read a good book. Or if you don’t like reading watch something. Anything that will take your mind off of things and ease your mind. There is just something really nice about getting lost in another world.

Call/text a friend. We all have that one friend that can brighten up our day no matter what. Just talking to that person makes us feel better. So call them or text them for an instantly brighter day.

Soak up some sun. Okay, I know it’s cold right now, but there is nothing better then sitting outside in the sun and breathing in the fresh air. You will feel relaxed and happier even if it’s just a minute.

Write down three things you are grateful for. We don’t always take the time we should to count our blessings. But writing them down and physically seeing them will help you realize how much you have. Nothing could possible make you happier.

Give someone a compliment. There is nothing in the world that makes me happier than making someone else smile. Seeing other people happy makes me feel so much better.

Exercise. There is just something about doing a workout or even simply going for a walk that makes me feel better. It’s something you can do alone that can really take your mind off of things.

Watch a funny video. The internet is a great place sometimes. Go to YouTube and find a funny video. Or watch videos about things that interest you. You will feel better in no time.

Sleep or nap. If you aren’t happy, chances are you might be cranky. A quick fix for that problem is to take a nap. Or go to bed a little bit earlier. Your brain and body will rest and recharge and you will be ready to go again.

Recite your mantra. If you have words that you live by, keep them in mind when you are feeling down. If you don’t already have one, Google some and find one that works best for you.

If none of those work for you, find something that does. There are tins of ways to bring some joy into your day. You just have to find the things that work best for you. Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

  1. Yesss!! Smiling seriously makes you feel better. Ikr! When reading, you can be in a different dimension (yes, my visualization is that strong) and don’t have to worry about your problems for a while. It’s always good to realize how blessed you are – helps you look at the cup from another perspective. Making people smile makes me smile. Sleeping def helps but naps never work for me because I end up sleeping too long and it just makes me tired and messes up my sleeping schedule so it might be better if I set alarms or go to sleep earlier.
Another one would be taking a walk outside – especially when the weather is just right.
