Follow Us On Social Media!!!

Hey guys! Welcome back. If you saw my last post you know there a few changes coming to Love, Geeky Girl. Starting mostly in March things will be a little different and hopefully a whole lot better. One of the things I want to be more intentional about is keeping up on social media. I know it’s kind of cliche, but it works for other bloggers, so maybe it will benefit me as well. So check us out below!

Pinterest: I created a Pinterest account specifically for the blog. This way I can upload my pins and share them to the Pinning world. It will also be organized in similar categories which will make finding the content you are looking for a lot easier.

Facebook: All of my posts are automatically shared to Facebook. Some of my readers come from Facebook. But all the content is there, so feel free to share it among your friends.

Twitter: I love Twitter. I think it is one of the best ways to get your content out there for the world. Most people following you on Twitter are people who have similar interests so sharing your content with them is sometimes easier than sharing it with family.

Instagram: That’s right. I’m back on Instagram. For the sole purpose of branding myself and getting my content out there. I am cleaning up my Instagram and starting fresh.

Click the links and follow me on social media! Stay updated and informed and share with your friends! Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you choose to follow me. Let me know if you do and what your social info is and I will follow you! Don’t forget to follow my actual blog as well if you are not already and I hope to see you next time!

Changes Coming In March 2018!

Hey guys! Welcome back. I hope you are all having a relaxing week. I know for many midterms are coming up and it can be a stressful time. But just hang in there. Spring break is just a few weeks away.

My blog has grown exponentially since June when I started. I have almost 200 followers and to me that is absolutely insane. I have done really well and I think it’s time to really take it seriously. Before I have always just written whatever and hoped it did well and for the most part it worked. However, there are some things I’ve noticed have done well and some things that haven’t been doing so well. So I want to make a few changes and I wanted to tell all my old faithfuls so there isn’t a huge shock when it comes time for the changes to happen. They won’t happen all at once most likely, but they are coming.

The first thing I want to do is reorganize. I have kind of already started doing this, but I want to clean it up even more. If you go to the home page you can see the categories that I use most often and you can find posts for a specific topic or idea. I am completely changing up my blog.

The next thing I want to do is purchase my blog. As I said, my blog is doing really well and I view it as more than just a hobby. I have invested the time in making it work and now I feel as though I should invest some money. This change will be coming in the next couple of weeks and I am super excited about it!

Another thing I want to do is make a new blog plan. As I said, I want to reorganize. Part of that for me is changing what I write about. The new plan is as follows:

  • Sunday: Weekly Devotional (this will be Christian-based).
  • Monday: College
  • Tuesday: Beauty
  • Wednesday: Advice
  • Thursday: Lifestyle
  • Friday: Fitness Journey
  • Saturday: Life Update/ Fun Posts

That being considered, I want to allow other people to write for my blog. I want writers helping create content and collaborating with me. So if you are interested comment below and I will get in touch.

These are the changes being put in effect right now. More may come later, but I think this is enough for now. My question for you is what do you like about my blog? Is there anything you would change? Let me know in the comments below.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you are as excited as I am for these changes coming. Please like it and let me know in the comments if you are. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

Overcoming Perfectionism

Hey guys! Welcome back. Being perfect is something I think we all strive for. In college, it is extremely difficult to be perfect. I always have super high expectations and I am crushed when I don’t reach them. When I first started college I thought getting anything below a “A” was a bad grade. I attribute that to the way I was raised. However, college quickly taught me that I can’t always get an “A” and that’s more than okay.

I had to get a grip. I am imperfect just like everyone else. I have bad days and sometimes I don’t give everything my best. That’s more than okay. I won’t always remember everything and I won’t always get everything done. But that doesn’t mean I fail. Pushing to be the best you can be is good, but trying to attain unattainable perfection is not. Even at your best, you are not perfect.

I had to stop procrastinating. I definitely won’t be even close to perfect if I put everything off until the last possible minute. I have to hold myself accountable. Priorities are everything in college. You have to do what is necessary first because if not the chances it will get done are lower. The faster you get the done obligations finished, the less guilt you will experience when doing the things you enjoy.

I have accepted that I am not perfect, nor will I ever be. I have goals and expectations, but they are reasonable and realistic. I manage my time and get everything done in an orderly manner. I keep a to-do list and always try to finish everything that needs to be done. However, if I fall short I know it’s not the end of the world.

Having a positive attitude has proved to be beneficial. Striving to be happy and calm has helped me conquer so much. It diminishes the doubts I have in myself and helps me be more confident in my capabilities and my accomplishments. Having a positive attitude helps me realize that I can do more than I think I can.

I learned to fail. They say you learn more from failing than you do through succeeding. There is something very powerful about that statement. Failure is a part of life, but it definitely isn’t something I enjoy. I don’t like knowing I wasn’t the best or in some way fell short of what I needed to be successful. But I am not good at everything. There are some things I will just never be able to grasp, and that’s okay.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

Product Review!

Hey guys! Welcome back. I have yet another product to share my thoughts and opinions about. Today I am going to be talking about the Wet n’ Wild Dewy Photo Focus Face Primer. You guys probably know by now that I love Wet n’ Wild. I think they are amazing and I always love trying new stuff from them.

This product is no exception. It definitely does have a dewy, glowy finish. It looks amazing on the skin. I definitely give this a 10/10.

The first thing I will say is it is a tinted primer. It is kind of dark but once it is evened out on the face all you can really see is the glow. It looks great under the Photo Focus foundation, which is the only foundation I use at the moment.

However, once I put powder on that dewiness does go away. Which I guess should be expected, but at the  same time I wish the glow was still there. Other than that it really does make you glow.

Another thing that makes this primer so great is my makeup lasted HOURS longer than it normally does. It really helped keep my foundation and everything in place. I was shocked by how amazing my makeup looked at the end of the day.

I did buy this off of Ulta’s website and it was $4.99 (+shipping). It is only 0.84 fluid ounces, so I think it is a little bit on the pricier side. But a little bit does go a long way. I don’t know if I will repurchase it yet, but I will keep you updated.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Let me know if you are planning on buying this. If you have purchased this let me know in the comments below what your thoughts were. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

Everyone Has A Different Path

Hey guys! Welcome back. Everyone has a different life. We are all very different. We have different dreams, different pasts, different beliefs, and different personalities. We aren’t all the same, so our lives won’t be the same. But that doesn’t mean that any one person’s life is better or more important than another. In fact, it means the exact opposite. Every person’s life is just as valuable and important as the next person’s.

Never let someone else tell you what your next step should be. That is for you to decide. It’s your life and you have to live it. It isn’t for anyone else. They aren’t you. You have your own mind, your own heart, and your own personality. Take control of the reigns and the live the life you think is best. It isn’t for anyone else to decide. You are in control.

Sometimes it’s easy to fall apart, and that’s perfectly okay. It’s good to break down every now and then because it gives you a chance to pull yourself back together and refocus. But don’t stay down. Get back up again and find strength in the fact that you are not alone. Plenty of people are struggling and trying to find their way. Everyone is different and not everyone can always have it together all the time.

Be you. Don’t ever apologize for who you are or what you stand for. You have a right to live your life free of the oppression from others. So be kind to yourself and live the way you want. Be true to yourself and live your absolute best life. You were made to live your life, not someone else’s second life. Don’t give in to what someone else thinks you should do. Be smart, be kind, and be you. You are not behind or ahead of anyone. You are you and that is all the world needs.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

Life Update!!! Losing My Keys, Moving, Shopping, and My New Summer Job!!!

Hey guys! Welcome back. I’m here with another life update because a few interesting things have happened this week and I thought I would share with you. I really hope you enjoy this!

The first thing is I went on a MAJOR (online) shopping spree. I bought so much stuff. I have a lot of product reviews coming for you guys once I try them enough to decide if I like them. I already did one on the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill palette. So check out my last post if you are interested in that. Keep a look out for my other product reviews coming as well. I’m very excited!

I almost completely moved out of my old dorm and into my new one. It’s a nice change, but kind of stressful as well. Also, I really enjoy having a room to myself. You know? But I’m excited to be in my new room because though that room is smaller, I think it is a little bit nicer and feels more like home if you know what I mean.

Yesterday I left my keys at McDonald’s. Luckily a very trustworthy person found them and they were returned safely to me. I panicked so much though. I completely retraced my steps. It was a stressful evening, but it ended pretty well.

And finally the most exciting news! For me anyway. This summer I got an internship at a summer camp. I’m super excited about it and I can’t wait to see where this opportunity leads me. I’m so grateful for this and I am really looking forward to it!

That’s my little life update for you. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this. Please like it if you did. Comment below anything going on in your life that you want to share. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

Product Review!!!!!!!!

Hey guys! Welcome back. This is a very exciting post for me because I get to do the product review that I have been so excited for. It is the Jaclyn Hill eyeshadow palette from Morphe. I talked myself in and out of buying this palette for so long, but I finally decided to just do it. The pictures of the palette looked pretty and I figured it was worth a shot. And it’s here!

It is $38 plus shipping if you buy online. I got mine on Ulta’s website. There are 35 shades and they are all amazing. I am super excited to play with this palette more. All the shades are different and each one is absolutely beautiful.

The quality is definitely there. They are so creamy and easy to blend. There are matte shades, shimmer shades, and some sheer shades. They range from dark to light to super colorful. Astonishingly beautiful.

It is easy to use and perfect for all occasions. It has become a staple in my collection and will no longer travel with any other palette. This one literally has everything I need with a few extras just for glam. It’s amazing and incredible and perfect. I definitely recommend buying it if you haven’t already!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this. Let me know in the comments below if you have this palette and what you think. Don’t forget to follow before you leave if you have not already and I hope to see you next time!

A Letter To My Younger Self

February 19th, 2018

Dear 17-year-old me,

It’s a difficult time for you I know. You are busy planning for college, trying to make it through those last few months of college, and dealing with all that you are dealing with at home. I know you are struggling, but I promise you will make it through. I know you had plans for me. You had goals and ambitions and I admire you greatly for that. I tried to listen to you the best I could, but it just didn’t work out.

I know you are strong because I see all that you overcame. I see the pain and the hurt that is in your heart because it is still there. You are still a part of me and you always will be. I thought once I turned 18 and moved away to college you would go away. I thought I would forget about you because remembering is too painful. But no matter how hard I tried I cannot forget you. The truth is you are the very best part of me. When I feel weak, I remember your strength. When I feel sad, I remember your heartache. You get me through my very worst days.

Now I don’t want to forget you. You are a very big part of who I am and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I am who I am because of you and all that you conquered. But don’t forget that I am still human. I am more human and more real now than I was when you were dreaming of me. I know you always dreamed of getting here, and well kid, you made it.

You wrote in a letter to me that you wanted to encourage me to push through whatever I am going through and remind me that life isn’t always easy. I still remember. I look back on those days when you were writing that letter, and even before then, and I thank God that that struggle happened. It wasn’t easy, but we made it through. I am glad you endured all that pain so I don’t have to. My life is much easier now. I am happy.

I remember your fear and anxiety. I remember how alone you were and how lost you felt. I remember those days of just barely hanging on and surviving. But you did it. And I am proud of you. I know it wasn’t easy for you but you hung in there just like I am. We’re not that different you and me. I know we are the same person, but in a lot of ways we are not. And though I am thankful for your existence, I’m glad we are not the same. I am glad to be happy and live the life I always dreamed of living. I have you to thank for getting me here.

Right now I am sitting in my dorm room. The one you dreamed of having. The one you couldn’t wait to be sitting in. You anticipated not having to worry about those things anymore and I am here. So relish in that.

I am so proud of you for sticking it through this far. It is astonishing how far you came and how much you grew. Everything led me here and I am happy for that. I am glad you chose to push through and work towards me. I am not perfect, but I’m happy. That’s more than I can say for you. I am excited for the future because if I made it here I can go anywhere. Thank you for choosing me and choosing to survive it all. You almost didn’t, but I can honestly say I am thankful you did. I can’t wait to see where God leads us in this epic journey.
